Dr. Lane is a literary scholar at the Centre for Baltic and East European Studies and teaches Russian literature in her seminars. With her lecture on Andrei Platonov, Dr. Lane introduces the work of an author who appeared as a convinced communist shortly after the October Revolution, but whose works did not conform to the party line. Many only became accessible with perestroika, a fate shared by many authors in the Baltic Sea countries behind the "Iron Curtain".
