This publication reports the joint results achieved with the groups of Peter J. Deuss (Groningen) and Xiangping Zhang (Beijing) about a one-pot catalytic lignin β-O-4 depolymerization cascade strategy yielding 1,2- dimethoxybenzene. We could show that this compound can be easily transformed using an 'unspecific peroxygenase' into 3,4-dimethoxyphenol in high yields. Read the just accepted publication in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. here.
