We would like the citizens of Vorpommern to join us in achieving our goal of transforming our region to a One-Health region

Public engagement of citizens in the context of One Health

Impulses for stronger ties between science and society with the aim of a healthy region

Healthy people, healthy animals and a healthy environment - how these combine affects us all. Many researchers in Greifswald are working on this relationship. But what do the results of these research activities mean for the people living in Vorpommern? And how can answers be found to the local population’s questions and ideas?

Our aim is to

  • make you curious about the topic of One Health,
  • give you insights into what we know about human, animal and environmental health
  • involve you and your questions and everyday experiences in the scientific knowledge process
  • support you in local projects that you would like to initiate yourself, and
  • strengthen the commitment between regional research institutions and society.

To this end, we will be offering both small-scale and large-scale hands-on formats at various locations in Vorpommern. The locations, dates and topics are yet to be determined. We hope that the constructive dialogue will lead to an increased involvement of players from the regional civil society in One Health activities.

Our long-term goal is to improve our understanding of the interrelationship between the "health" of humans, animals and the environment and to support and accompany regional “One Health” activities.

For our colleagues, we provide an opportunity to become accustomed with, understand and apply science communication and public engagement. We will offer a training series for this purpose. Our  research project from the field of communication science examines when and how public engagement works well.
